Prep swimming success at Ulster Minor Swimming Championships!
On Saturday 19 September 10 pupils from the Prep competed in the individual events Ulster Minor Swimming Championships at Bangor Castle Leisure Centre. Two teams competed in the relay events.

Rosie Collins (P5), Robbie Johnston (P5), Conor Monteith (P6) and Rosie Henderson (P7) all made the finals of an individual event. Rosie, Robbie and Conor came fourth in their Breaststroke events whilst Rosie Henderson came fourth in the Freestyle and fifth in Back Crawl. As a result all four pupils have qualified for the Irish Finals in Dublin in December.

The Girls’ Relay team made up of Eve Foster-Brown, Erin Rennie, Emily Estler, Kate Tolerton and Rosie Collins put in a sterling performance to finish seventh in the Medley Relay and sixth in the Freestyle Relay. Hopes were high as the Boys’ Relay Team prepared to swim - and they certainly did not disappoint. After two exciting and closely contested races the boys were delighted to finish in bronze medal position in both the Medley and Freestyle Relays. This is the best performance ever for a prep team at this event. Many congratulations go to team members Robbie Johnston, Alex Harte, Conor Monteith and Henry Tolerton. The team, along with the individual event qualifiers, has the opportunity to represent Friends’ School at the Irish Finals in Dublin. The standard of swimming on display on Saturday was extremely high. Our pupils excelled themselves and we are very proud of them.

Sincere thanks go to Mrs Monteith and Mrs Johnston who organised the entries and supported our pupils on Saturday. Thanks also go to the many parents who cheered on our young swimmers!
