Wednesday 26 May saw the first of our two Sports Days. Key Stage Two pupils displayed considerable athletic prowess on the track and the races were enjoyed by the many parents in attendance. Prior to the presentation of prizes, “The Sporting Year 2009-2010”, a loop of photographs collated by Mrs Johnston, was shown. A report, by Mrs Aughey, was also given on the sporting year. In addition to the athletics and swimming prizes two special awards, generously given by former members of staff, were presented. A Behaviour Plate, presented by Mrs Kathleen Ingleston was awarded to Divis House and two hockey cups donated by the late John Waring and his wife Brenda Waring, were awarded to the most promising boy and girl hockey players. This year David Newell won the hockey cup for most promising boy. Rosie Henderson was the most promising girl hockey player. The JJ Shannon cup for the most promising P7 Badminton player was awarded to Erin Boomer. The House Shield was won by Croob. The Key Stage Two staff and pupils worked extremely hard on the day and in the weeks leading up to Sports Day to ensure the smooth running of this wonderful sporting event. Our thanks also go to Old Scholar and swimming coach Mrs Maureen McCoy, who was our special guest.
